There is nothing in the Kext array that is non-standard,but more importantly, everything suggested that the problem was occurring long before any of the kernel extensions were even loading. I went through all the trouble-shooting steps, including those Max108 suggested here to others with exactly no success.

Noting the different build number on the released version, I tried again today with the same outcome. I Restored the machine to 10.10.5 and it has been running trouble free since. Safe mode didn't work, resetting the NVRAM didn't happen because the machine never got far enough in the process to recognize the command sequence. It would happen so fast that pressing the on/off switch did nothing and to get the machine to any state required that I physically unplug the machine and start from a cold boot with fingers on the necessary startup command keys. Either a cold boot or a reboot resulted in the same situation time in and time out - the computer would ding the boot up chime, flash the apple logo, shut itself off and repeat the cycle. Suffice it to say that the OS installed and initially booted to EC without a hitch, but therefore after would not ever reboot to EC. My experiences with the GM are recorded in another thread, so I won't repeat them here.

Because I am paranoid and ruthless about backups, at any given time I have three active backups of my main drive that can reconstruct my main boot drive to within activities as recent as 2 hours before, and when I am updating to a new OS those backups all get clones of the main drive sequentially before I even attempt an install of a totally new OS. WHen the GM release was posted on 9/9, I had decided that based on my experience with the beta on all the other platforms, that EC was stable enough to install on my production machine.

Except for the MBA, all machines have a minimum of 16 GB of RAM with the Mac Pro having 64 GB of RAM and my main boot drive being the internal PCI SSD with 1 TB (700 GB free). I did not try installing any version on my main production machine, a late 2013 6 Core Mac Pro). After giving up on El Capitan during the beta process (for one specific machine only, details follow), I waited until the final release on September 30 to try to see if the unresolvable bug that had prevented in earlier releases had been resolved.īAckground: I've successfully installed beta versions and the release version of EC on 4 of my 5 Macs (1 2015 retina).
